New casino and dining options unveiled at Hoosier Park

ANDERSON, Ind. — Today’s sneak preview at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino for media and local dignitaries showcased the new permanent Las Vegas-style casino, and also included final project updates in advance of the facility’s public opening. Conveniently located just 20 minutes north of Indianapolis off Interstate 69, Hoosier Park Racing & Casino’s 15th season will provide a complete consumer experience, featuring both state-of-the-art gaming and competitive live horse racing, along with expanded dining options and headline entertainment.

During the sneak preview event, Jim Brown, general manager of gaming, and Rick Moore, general manager of racing, described the unique features of the new, permanent, single-level, 92,000-square-foot casino complex, including a martini bar, player’s club, high-limit area and more. Among the 2,000 high-tech slot machines, which are now in place and ready for testing later this month, are interlinked progressives and multi-player electronic table games, including those for three-card poker, blackjack and roulette. “We’re creating a unique ‘wow’ for our customers with the latest in gaming technology,” Brown said. “Our facility is a seamlessly integrated gaming and entertainment destination.”

The completed facility will be open to the public, pending regulatory approval, at 9 a.m. Monday, June 2.

Also showcased were the nine exciting new bars and restaurants – including a full-service buffet (Prime Harvest Buffet), Homestretch Clubhouse Dining, premier steakhouse (Homestretch Steakhouse), Johnny Rockets, quick dining outlets such as Mambo Italiano and Big Deli (24-hour New York-style delicatessen), Terrace Café featuring Starbucks coffee, two specialty bars (Pegasus Lounge and Double R Bar) and full cocktail service.

Based on initial projections, during the first five full years of operation, Hoosier Park will provide:

  • More than $200 million in purse money for Indiana's horseracing industry.
  • More than $400 million to state government in direct gaming taxes.
  • $40 million to Madison County, of which $18 million will go directly to the City of Anderson.
  • Approximately 550 new jobs for primarily local residents. These new jobs, along with existing Hoosier Park employment, represent what is expected to be above $200 million, over a five-year period, in employee earnings, including wages, tips and benefits.

“We’re fortunate we’re in a community where we’ve been so well received over the years,” Moore said. “Our vision includes continued community involvement.”
