Indianapolis Cultural Trail announces online donation portal, “friends” gift
Those who give $100 or more will be named “Indianapolis Cultural Trail Blazers”
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick now has online donation capabilities, allowing the project to accept donations of all sizes. For donations of $100 or more, Indianapolis Cultural Trail enthusiasts can become “Indianapolis Cultural Trail Blazers,” a new group of “friends” of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail who will receive a commemorative T-shirt, as well as invitations to members-only events throughout the year.
“The new online portal will allow trail supporters to donate any amount, as well as help us create a new group of trail enthusiasts, which is vital as we continue to raise funds,” said Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) president Brian Payne. CICF is a co-lead partner of the project, along with the City of Indianapolis.
To make a donation to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, supporters can visit www.IndyCulturalTrail.org to make a gift online or by mail to Indianapolis Cultural Trail, c/o CICF, 615 N. Alabama St., Ste. 119, Indianapolis, IN 46204. They can also call 317.713.3333. This marks the first time the public Cultural Trail supporters can donate any amount of money to the project.
To date, the trail has raised $41.5 million toward its $50.35 million budget. Most of the funding comes from charitable contributions managed by CICF. One half-mile – the corridor located on Alabama Street from North Street to Market Street – of the eight-mile bicycle and pedestrian path connecting the five downtown Cultural Districts is complete. In 2009, four miles are scheduled for construction, and, when finished, will directly connect the Monon Trail, Indiana Avenue, Lucas Oil Stadium and Fountain Square. The remainder of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail is scheduled for construction in 2010 and completion in 2011, just in time for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
