“Dinosaurs Alive 3D” opens Sept. 24 at IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum
Michael Douglas narrates real-life science adventure featuring world’s top dinosaur hunters
INDIANAPOLIS – On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, the ancient world of dinosaurs will take over Indiana’s largest movie screen for a scientific quest at the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum. “Dinosaurs Alive 3D,” narrated by Michael Douglas, will take moviegoers back millions of years to the Triassic Period of the earliest dinosaurs and beyond, using life-like animation to recreate dinosaur behaviors and environments.
“This action-packed film is a thrilling opportunity to learn about the latest discoveries of the dinosaur age,” said Dave Brown, theater director of the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum. “The 3D imagery in this film is stunning. State-of-the-art technology transforms the theater into a scientific adventure and brings the audience face-to-face with some of the world’s most mysterious creatures.”
"Dinosaurs Alive 3D” follows renowned paleontologists from the American Museum of Natural History as they uncover evidence that descendents of dinosaurs still walk (or fly) among us. Moviegoers will journey through the exotic sand dunes of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert and the sandstone buttes of New Mexico to discover new fossils, including those of what may be the oldest dinosaur ever found in North America. They will witness dinosaurs locked in mortal combat, nesting in colonies, protecting their young and facing catastrophic forces of nature.
Interwoven throughout the film’s storyline is a real-life scientific adventure that looks at the field of paleontology and the crucial finds made over the years that have revolutionized our understanding of the mysterious creatures that dominated the earth for 150 million years. The film reveals how paleontologists search for, discover and study fossils to determine different dinosaur species.
