Disney’s A Christmas Carol: An IMAX 3D Experience is a gift worth the wait

Opens Nov. 20 at IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum

INDIANAPOLIS – ‘Tis the season for the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come! Opening Friday, Nov. 20, on Indiana’s largest movie screen at the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum, Disney’s A Christmas Carol: An IMAX 3D Experience will take moviegoers on a thrilling journey through this holiday classic. Seeing this digitally re-mastered classic told through the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® through proprietary IMAX DMR® technology is definitely worth the trip downtown. Disney’s A Christmas Carol: An IMAX 3D Experience will bring the holiday spirits – or ghosts – to downtown Indianapolis in this optimum presentation format – IMAX® 3D.

“Watching this film in our IMAX 3D format will be breath-taking for our guests,” said Craig Mince, theater sales manager. “This is a holiday film the whole family is sure to enjoy and on our six-story tall screen and with 12,000 watts of digital surround sound, the audience will feel like they have been transported back to the London of the 1800s. The magic of IMAX 3D will ensure a truly memorable experience.”

Through the all-encompassing power of IMAX® 3D, moviegoers will reach for the falling snowflakes, feel the rumble of the horse-drawn carriages over the cobblestone streets and soar with Scrooge high above the London night sky. With crystal clear images, laser-aligned digital sound and maximized field of view, IMAX puts audiences in the movie.

“It’s as if Charles Dickens wrote this story to be a movie—it’s so visual and cinematic,” says Robert Zemeckis, director/producer/screenwriter. “It’s the greatest time-travel story ever written and I wanted to do the movie the way I believe it was originally envisioned by the author.”

Disney’s A Christmas Carol, a multi-sensory thrill ride re-envisioned by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis (as last seen with the IMAX holiday classic The Polar Express) captures the essence of the classic Charles Dickens tale. Ebenezer Scrooge (JIM CARREY) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (GARY OLDMAN) and his cheery nephew (COLIN FIRTH). Scrooge later encounters the ghost of his dead business partner Joseph Marley, who’s paying the price in the afterlife for his own callousness. Marley hopes to help Scrooge avoid a similar fate and tells him he will be visited by three spirits. But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take Old Scrooge on an eye-opening journey revealing he’s reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it’s too late.
