Public Invited to Drum Corps International’s LIVE Music Sampler on Monument Circle, Wednesday June 23
The 150-member Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps will entice Indy residents to “Come Feel The Music”
INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, June 21 – More than 5,000 young brass musicians, percussionists and dance performers are currently touring the nation as part of the 2010 Drum Corps International (DCI) Tour, a series of 115 LIVE competitive musical events. The tour will draw to a close later this summer, culminating in Indianapolis from August 12 to 14 for the Drum Corps International World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium. This Wednesday, June 23, Indianapolis residents will have the opportunity for an exclusive sneak peek at the world class musical talent of one of the more than 40 groups that will make their way to Indianapolis this August.
WHAT: As a preview of the Drum Corps International World Championships, the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps of Toledo, Ohio will perform on the steps of Monument Circle for the lunchtime crowd. The FREE event will showcase the world class musical and performance talent of the 150-member ensemble, with “meet and greet” opportunities with the young performers following the performance.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. – corps will arrive and set up
- 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – introduction and ensemble warm up (Individual exercises by brass, percussion and color guard sections)
- 12:15 p.m. to 12:35 p.m. – special standing performance
- 12:35 p.m. to 1 p.m. – smaller melodies & meet and greet opportunities

WHO: The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps is a non-profit performing arts organization based in Toledo, Ohio. The organization’s mission is to provide opportunities that promote and develop life skills and personal enrichment through education, participation and performance. The 150-member drum corps, made up of young men and women ages 16-22, is one of more than 40 ensembles that will tour the country this summer as part of the Drum Corps International Tour. Active for more than 45 years, the group has performed across the United States, Canada and Europe in competitions, parades and educational workshops.
