Dance Kaleidoscope To Present Entertaining and Educational Family Performances at White River State Park THIS weekend on July 23 and 24
Family Arts Series offers free admission, outdoor entertainment and family fun
INDIANAPOLIS – White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis invites families to see Indiana’s premier professional dance company – Dance Kaleidoscope (DK) – as part of its annual Family Arts Series on July 23 and 24 at 6:00 p.m. DK is nationally recognized for offering an interactive collection of diverse, athletic and exciting dances, making their show perfect for the entire family. In fact, children will be invited to come up on stage with DK during the first half, and then following a short intermission, DK will put on one of its performances.
Dance Kaleidoscope’s professional ensemble consists of 11 gifted dancers who are trained in modern dance as well as classical ballet. Artistic Director David Hochoy brings an international perspective to the company, plus each dancer is diverse in training, dance style, professional experience and almost all carry college degrees. More than 900,000 people have seen DK perform since 1992 when it grew out of an educational program with Young Audiences of Indiana. DK’s focus is still on education, believing that “the art of dance is a very important tool for our children’s education and their ability to learn.” This interactive educational program defines dance as shapes moving through space to a beat and is sure to be fun and entertaining for everyone who sees it.
Picnics, blankets and lawn chairs are all encouraged. Celebration Amphitheater and Celebration Plaza are both handicap accessible. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. The Family Arts Series is made possible by the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation and the Lilly Endowment, Inc. For more information, visit www.inwhiteriver.com or call 317-233-2434.
