Jackie Koumpouras, account coordinator

I couldn’t help but grin when I received the e-mail that said, “Borshoff is pleased to announce Jackie Koumpouras as our newest account coordinator.” To me, this was my crossing over to the real world.  I am a college graduate and pay my own bills. And I now have a job in a field I spent four years studying. With that said, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jackie Koumpouras, account coordinator at Borshoff; the newest member of the Borshoff family.

I graduated Cum Laude from Butler University in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with a concentration in integrated communications: public relations/advertising. After previous internships at Eli Lilly & Company, WISH-TV 8 and Cha Cha Search, I decided to apply for Borshoff’s account intern position for the summer after graduation. Little did I know that the value I added to the company would enable me to stay on full time. After two-and-a-half months of writing, media monitoring, pitching and media kits, my wish came true. Borshoff Principal Susan Matthews called me to her office. The walk there oddly reminded me of those elementary schools days when you were told to go to the principal’s office. Not that I ever made that trip, but I assume the same anxious feelings are involved. Soon enough, my uneasy feelings turned to joy when she told me that my assistance with several clients would be needed in the future, and Borshoff would love to keep me on board.

So, here I am! With my own office, laptop and business cards, I am officially a working woman and I love it! I am grateful that I am doing work I enjoy for a company that I love. It certainly makes waking up in the morning easier.

While working full time at Borshoff, I am currently pursuing my MA at IUPUI in public relations with a concentration in PR management in health care and life sciences. In a struggling economy, I wanted to continue my education in PR to have a competitive edge in the future. I look forward to the value I can add to my clients at Borshoff and am excited for what my future holds for me.  Life is certainly keeping me busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
