By Jackie Koumpouras, account coordinator
As the newest member of the Borshoff public relations and advertising team, I still have a lot to learn as I look up to my colleagues and carry on my responsibilities.
However, after completing my first 100 days as an account coordinator, I can offer advice to others who are looking for their big break into the PR world. Here are 10 lessons learned:
- Employees who offer you constructive criticism want you to succeed.
- Admit it when you make a mistake and learn from that experience.
- Get along with everyone—your attitude says a lot.
- Ask questions.
- Get involved with company functions; let them know you care.
- Strong interpersonal skills are crucial in this business—develop them now.
- Be calm and confident in what you do.
- Dress like a professional and you will start to feel like one.
- Go above and beyond what is expected or asked of you.
- Smile—people notice.
