As the newest member of the Borshoff public relations and advertising team, I still have a lot to learn as I look up to my colleagues and carry on my responsibilities.

However, after completing my first 100 days as an account coordinator, I can offer advice to others who are looking for their big break into the PR world. Here are 10 lessons learned:

  1. Employees who offer you constructive criticism want you to succeed.
  2. Admit it when you make a mistake and learn from that experience.
  3. Get along with everyone—your attitude says a lot.
  4. Ask questions.
  5. Get involved with company functions; let them know you care.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial in this business—develop them now.
  7. Be calm and confident in what you do.
  8. Dress like a professional and you will start to feel like one.
  9. Go above and beyond what is expected or asked of you.
  10. Smile—people notice.
